19th of April 2006, in the framework of Antinuclear campaign a picket against the government’s plans to build nuclear power-station in Belarus took place in the Bangalor square. Approximately 50 persons participated including ecologists, anarchists, left-wing activists, representatives of Minsk and regionsl NGOs, punk and hardcore scene people.

The authorities did their utmost to turn expressing of the views different from official government position in a farce. At the same time, 3 meetings were sanctioned in the Bangalor square: anti-nuclear one, Kozulin’s suppoters’ one and… Slavonic fascists’s one! These latter appeared with posters, calling upon to avenge Milosevich killers which looked as an undisguised provocation. Never before nazis showed openly their faces in the streets. Never before 3 pickets took place in sllepy Minsk at the same moment.

The piquet was aimed to inform the society about the danger and the absurdity of building a nuclear station in Belarus, as well as to show the alternatives to the power engineering applicable for our country. The picketers unfurled the baner "NO to the building of new atomic stations in Belarus", gave out the leaflets and communicated with media representatives. The picket showed the initiative which, unlike various political players using Chernobyl topic as a card for their moves, points to the interconnection between the governmental plans to build a nuclear station and Chernobyl revisionism and puts on the agenda a socially acceptable solution to the problem of ecological and socio-economic fatal consequences of the Chernobyl accident.
