Erections - 2006
Содержание

Тема.

Erection. The formal spelling is election, but in practice, the election of political party candidates in representative democracy often favours men and is more about dominance and control (often characterised as "masculine" behaviour) rather than cooperation and participative, consensus decision-making (often characterised as "feminine" behaviour). For this reason, people critical of elections may refer to them (in English) as erections.

The corporate controlled media in rich Western countries generally restrict discussion of democracy to representative democracy alone, since it favours centralised control and the ability of corporations to lobby the leaders.

Many people in poor countries, and many human rights activists in rich countries, are more interested in different ideas of participatory democracy which would enable ordinary people to better participate in decision-making, would enable better protection of human rights (including the right to a job, the right to food and shelter, the right to education, the right to health) and would make it more difficult for corporations to destroy people's lives.

For these reasons, participatory decision-making methods and flattening of hierarchies are often considered by genuine human rights activists to be a higher priority than formal erections. On the other hand, pseudo- human rights activists sponsored by NED, IRI, etc. generally support formal erections in which one man is erected to power instead of another man and they are not interested in participatory decision-making methods, the right of women to participate in decision-making without having to aggressively shout louder than men, open discussion nor do they consider thinking for themselves to be a high priority.
