Yesterday the Belarusian opposition media published information that the German far-right politician from the “Alternative for Germany” Jörg Dornau uses slave labor of prisoners, including political prisoners, in production in Belarus. It’s hard to pass by such information and leave it without comment. Already in August, the media wrote about the business of the German fascist in Belarus. The information appeared primarily because of the fine, which was imposed by the regional Saxon parliament on Dornau for hiding the income from onions in Belarus. The media do not report how much money the far-right German earned on cooperation with the Lukashenko regime.
A little about the person of Jörg Dornau – this is not just a right-wing politician from Germany, but a representative of the gaining momentum of the neo-fascist movement in the country, trying to seize power in Germany to promote their hateful ideas. In this context, it is hard to surprise people that Jörg supports Russia in the war in Ukraine, advocates “remigration” (deportation of legally arriving migrants) and promotes a strong authoritarian state. With such a profile, it makes little sense to be surprised by the willingness to use slave labor of Belarusian prisoners. Jörg continues to do in Belarus what his ancestors did during the Third Reich – to exploit the population of other countries for his own benefit.
Lukashenko’s role in assisting German fascists in exploitation of Belarusians is not surprising either – the dictator went from words about a strong Reich to direct cooperation with the new generation of builders of “strong and independent fascist Germany”. At the same time, working with such Germans as Jörg Dornau fits quite well into the ideological profile of cooperation with Putin’s empire – the Alternative for Germany today is one of the strongest pro-Russian forces in Western Europe, and the AFD’s version of neo-fascism quietly integrates friendship with Putin with racist ideology. After all, the USSR played an important role in the development of Nazism in Germany in the 20s and 30s…
