There were several actions of radical ecological group Antinuclear Resistance in Belarus during 26 April 2009. Activists protested against proposed construction of nuclear power plant and called for development of renewable energy in the country.
Antinuclear Resistance formed its own block (about 100 people) during "Čarnobylski šliach" ("Chernobyl Way") - traditional commemorative event of local political opposition in Minsk. Antinuclear block left the march on half-way protesting against unsuitable route proposed by Minsk city authorities.
Later about 40 activists gathered in front of "Belarus" universal store (kind of big shop / supermarket) for illegal street action. The event was short, all activists escaped before police managed to arrive.
On both events in Minsk activists held banners with untinuclear slogans, distributed leaflets; there was samba-band playing.
In Hrodna two banners were hanged in public places. Activists disseminated antinuclear pamphlets in a marketplace, too.
